Packing Right (and Light) for Key West
It’s time to say adieu 2022, hello 2023! There’s no better way to welcome the new year than a trip to sunny Key West. If you visit in January, pack a pair of jeans and a light jacket for potentially cool nights. That said, even in winter, temperatures rarely dip below the 60s, and they regularly approach 80, so swimsuits, shorts, sandals, sundresses, and light-colored cotton shirts will likely be your main attire. Be sure to pack sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, along with sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat, and if you plan to go on or in the water, you’ll need a waterproof drybag to prevent your electronics, wallet, and other valuables from getting wet. Toss a windproof travel umbrella in your suitcase too since most days include a quick afternoon shower. Hand sanitizer, a beach blanket, and a small cooler bag also come in handy. What should you not pack? A surfboard (the water here is calm), formal clothing (remember, Key West = casual), expensive jewelry (don’t risk losing that chic pair of earrings in the ocean!). In sum, pack light, you’ll be happy you did. And if you should forget something, don’t worry, our resort staff will help you procure your missing essential ASAP.
